Tailoring

tailoring (1)

Tailoring is a diverse crafting profession which allows players to use various cloths and other reagents to craft armor, bags, spellthreads and even flying carpets! Tailoring is typically desired by cloth-wearing classes (Mage, Priest, Warlock).

Tailors can find cloth commonly on humanoid and occasionally on other types of mobs, and have an increased chance to find extra cloth upon learning Cloth Scavenging. In Cataclysm and beyond, Tailors above 400 skill have a chance to loot 50% more cloth.

In addition to armor with stats, Tailors can create a vast array of vanity gear and shirts.

In The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, some of the best crafted armor required a tailoring specialization to equip. In 4.0.1, these specializations (Mooncloth Tailoring, Shadoweave Tailoring or Spellfire Tailoring) were removed and tailors could learn all recipes and transmute all specialty cloths.

Warlords of Draenor brings about new PvE sets for Tailors. The new specialty cloth is Hexweave Cloth, made one day cooldown as well as through a Garrison building cooldown. Tailors in Warlords can ride a new mount: Creeping Carpet and craft the Elekk Plushie needed to complete the achievement An Awfully Big Adventure. In addition, there is also a 30 slot bag that is now craftable: Hexweave Bag

In order to purchase and learn all the new recipes currently available in Warlords of Draenor, you will need 185 Sumptuous Fur to perform all the cooldowns required to create the currency used to buy them, Secret of Draenor Tailoring.

Enchanting

enchant

Enchanting is, perhaps, the only profession in WoW that cannot be categorized, as it is neither crafting, nor gathering. Enchanters take enchanting materials obtained through disenchanting gear of uncommon or better quality – and turn them into permanent enchants for their own or their allies’ gear.

Enchants vary, but the most common ones are the plain +stat enchants like Greater Speed, Mighty Strength, orAgility. Some rare, and usually expensive and powerful enchants have a proc effect – Windwalk for example. Yet others provide a passive bonus that is not directly linked to your combat stats – Lavawalker or Gatherer, for instance. The item slots available for (Enchanter-made) enchants are: neck, rings, cloaks, and weapons.

In Warlords of Draenor, questing in your starting zone will lead you to quests that introduce this expansion’s recipes to you; the recipes you automatically learn are: Secrets of Draenor Enchanting, Luminous Shard, Mark of the Shattered Hand, Breath of Versatility, Breath of Multistrike, Breath of Mastery, Breath of HasteBreath of Critical Strike, Breath of Versatility, Enchanted Dust, Temporal Crystal. Using your daily cooldown, you create Secret of Draenor Enchanting which is then used to purchase further recipes. In Warlords, Enchanters can create some fun items such as Enchanted Dust and the Level 2 Enchanter’s Study gives you access to a new item, Enchanting Illusions, which alter the appearance of your weapon enchants — click here for a preview of Enchanting Illusions.

Engineering

engineering

Engineering is a primary crafting profession by which one can create many useful and amazing items as well as complete vendor trash. Engineers can craft items that, in general, all classes find helpful in PvE and PvP. However, most of the items crafted by engineers are only employable by engineers. Many of these items come with a chance for unexpected backfires, often with hilarious results. Hunters in particular see a lot of use from engineer-made guns and scopes. Twinks also find engineering useful because there is no level requirement to the gear that can be made.

Most of the items crafted by engineers have little real combat application. They focus on fun and/or useful gadgets like  Goblin Glider Kit or Findle’s Loot-A-Rang, but you will see many engineers proudly wearing their  Cybergenetic Mechshades, shooting their enemies with Shrediron’s Shredder – enchanted with Megawatt Filament, of course. Oh, and throwing Mecha-Blast Rockets. And then riding away with their Sky Golem. When you toss personal repair bots, teleportation devices, pets, and various gadgets (e.g. World Shrinker), Engineering becomes one of the most fun professions in the game.

Professions

Crafters who set out to master a profession discover skills every bit as valuable as swordplay or spellcraft. They can create weapons, tools and magic potions, bandage wounds, harvest precious materials, inscribe ancient runes of power, and more. Of course, truly canny professionals think bigger than outfitting themselves. When they’re not supplementing their own arsenal, they’ll be making a profit supplementing someone else’s.

PRIMARY

  • Engineers take advantage of their inventiveness to create an immense (and occasionally random) variety of helpful items. By tinkering ceaselessly, and tolerating malfunctions and misfires, an engineer can make utterly unique objects: sight-enhancing goggles, potent guns, robot pets, mechanical mounts, and even more unusual trinkets. Successful engineers use their inventions to solve problems and make life easier, faster, and better for themselves and their companions.

  • Enchanters disenchant surplus magical items – and use the residue to permanently augment equipment of their choosing. With the right incantations and materials, an enchanter can add bonuses to their armor or weapons, making them stronger, faster, or more resilient (among a host of other mystic powers). Canny enchanters sell their unique services to other heroes, and command prices commensurate with the rarity of the work they produce.

  • Tailors take simple cloth and weave wonders out of it; cloth armor and robes, shirts, bags and other creations are the purview of the tailor. The benefits are diverse – lightly armored classes can wear mystic robes, all types of heroes can benefit from a variety of bags, and everyone can appreciate the decorative shirts and outfits springing from the tailor’s loom.

SECONDARY

  • Cooking

Cooks experiment with strange and wondrous ingredients gathered from the far corners of Azeroth. A dedicated chef is able to turn mundane ingredients, recently caught fish or leftover animal meat into a delectable and nutritious meal. Ambitious cooks can even create massive feasts to sate the hunger of entire adventuring parties. Food made with cooking speeds health recovery, and some foods provide long-term buffs to heroes with full bellies.

  • Fishing

Fishers relax and feed themselves by catching the bounty of Azeroth’s lakes and seas. Careful bait selection and patience can result in some truly rewarding hauls, from seafaring delicacies that restore heroes’ health or enhance their attributes to waterlogged flotsam like cases and trunks. Fishing can even yield rare reagents and items lost at the bottom of the ocean or swallowed up by sea creatures!

  • First Aid

Physicians save lives in the dangerous world of Azeroth by using bandages and antidotes to heal injuries and remove poisons. By turning cloth of varying quality into potent medical supplies, they can quickly get wounded heroes back into a fight, supplementing (but not replacing) magical means of healing.

PvP

The blood-soaked fields of strife in Azeroth are ripe with opportunities for glory. Generals call this ordeal a war effort; combatants simply call it “PvP.” Experience the conflict firsthand as a soldier, a gladiator—or both—and forge an everlasting legend in the fires of battle.

THE RUSH OF BATTLE

Nothing can quite match the feeling of crossing steel—or flinging spells—against a living, breathing opponent who can anticipate your every move. PvP is frantic and requires swift reactions; thus, make sure to re-map your action buttons to your keyboard instead of mouse-clicking on them. Fight the good fight and you´ll be singing war stories at the nearest tavern alongside your (good) fellows in no time.

ARMED AND DANGEROUS

Armies need troops, and troops need gear. Bring victory to your faction and receive points to purchase tools of war from your local quartermaster: arms, armor, gems, enchantments, trinkets, and even mounts to ride into battle with. These items will give you an edge in combat and further improve your odds if the going gets rough—it will. Be ever vigilant.
